Conyers is an Atlanta suburb with a tight-knit community and a deep history. The seat of Rockdale County, the town was founded around 1916 when the first settler, a blacksmith, moved into the area and settled where the current county courthouse sits. The coming of the railroad in the 1840s gave new life to the region, and it has grown and been the home of a rugged population ever since.

The population here has seen its share of problems. The town has been devastated by fire a number of times over the years, but it always grows back. It’s been the home of a number of important events over the years, was once home to a Coca-Cola bottling facility and has even been a location where episodes of “The Dukes of Hazzard” and “In the Heat of the Night” were filmed.

Conyers has also been the home of actor DeForest Kelley of “Star Trek” fame, as well as Ashley Scott, Tyler Austin, Jesse Baker, Holly Hunter and many other famed actors, musicians and athletes. It’s an active town with quite a legacy, but in the end, it’s a town with the same problems as anywhere else, including the accumulation of junk.
